Welcome to the updated news page!

The November competition of 2006 is almost upon us.

Yes it is hard to believe that all of 2005 is gone. Time passes by so quickly!

This site will not be updated as often as I would like, due to my other Square Dancing commitments taking up so much time. However, I will endeavour to keep the music updated as much as I can.

National Convention 2003

Police called out to prevent traffic chaos. SES called out to help with wandering cars. Lots of strangers converging on one point. Was it a terrorist attack? No! Was it a natural disaster? No (though some may disagree on this point)! Louise and I have just returned from the National Square Dance Convention held at Caloundra in Queensland. If you think that the first two sentences are a little over the top, then imagine a small town suddenly hit with well over 1500 square dancers determined to have a good time. I can't describe the sensation of dancing at an event this big! Seeing a floor with over 100 squares is awesome! Younger dancers, older dancers, and spectators all had a great time. Caloundra won't forget this convention for a long time. Go HERE to see some of the photos. Remember, because this page has 43 thumbnail images, it may take a while to load.

National Convention 2004

Beautiful architecture, friendly people, great dancing! That describes the convention for me. For those who expected a small gathering in Tassie, 700 dancers were there to disappoint you. For those that came to have a great time, and dance till they dropped, this was the place to be. How many times have you been to a dance, where the state Governor is on the floor dancing? I'm currently sorting through the 600 photos I took, to see which ones I want to upload. For a quick preview, find a copy of the July Square Dance Review, and look at the cover.

Social dancing has returned!!

The club was trying to find out if we want to have social dancing as well as competition training. Due to your support, the social nights have now become a firm fixture. So come have a fun time on the third Tuesday of the month, from February to November 2004.  The date for the June dance may need to be shifted due to the Convention. There will be 50% square dancing and 50% round dancing on the night. The Greystanes Community Centre is on Merrylands Road (UBD map 209 ref M10). Contact David for further information.

Pictures

Once again, I was unable to take any pictures during this competition, because I was too busy judging. If anyone has any pictures they would like uploaded onto this site, please let me know.

Music News!

Well, still haven't managed to get around Fortune City's file restrictions! For information, please navigate to the Music Page. You will find a way to download the music and cue sheets there. The music is now available using this method.  Please remember, due to space restrictions, these are low quality MP3s. The music is good enough to listen to, but far short of CD quality.

As you should already know, the number of Round Dances, in the Senior Festival, has been returned to 4. Therefore the Bronze Round and the Silver Round will be the different dances. Being danced cued at Bronze level, and at Silver level. Also, the Gold Round and the Gold Challenge Round will be different. Both being danced uncued on the day. There is also thought of introducing a Handicap Round for the Senior Festival, which will be a cued round for randomly picked couples.

Request

Is anyone out there? No, that was not a SETI message! I'm not receiving much feedback about these pages. If anyone has any comments, suggestions, or requests, please Email me and let me know. I am quite willing to add any Square Dance or Round Dance based news and information to these pages. Just for a start, what do you think about the competition count-down on the index page?

Still looking for that special competition picture to use for the next Music CD Cover. Any help would be much appreciated.

Anyone who has pictures suitable for the cover of the South Pacific Square Dance Review, please let me know. Minimum requirements are 300dpi high quality.
